Hear ye, hear ye: The poster created for this class.
It’s Fasnacht (carnival) season here in Basel—the time when Baslers say goodbye to winter and usher in Spring. The yoga studio in which I teach had its own way to welcome Spring: a fun and creative yoga practice which helped students re-connect with their inner artist. I organized this two-hour session the day before carnival; a day full of sunshine and fine weather.
At first I wasn’t sure if anyone would turn up. Who would want to spend two hours indoors when the wonderful 15 degree-weather was begging for people to be outside? Apparently some yoginis were to willing to spare 120 minutes in cozy little Loosloo, where we breathed, drew, colored, wrote, and practiced yoga—all in the name of letting our creativity flow.
Getting to know you: The yoginis introduced themselves to each other and chatted about their favorite asanas and their view on creativity.
Tools for creativity: Freshly-sharpened colored pencils brought each participant’s ideas to life.
Tabula Rasa: Yoginis had a blank piece of paper to work with. From a tiny seed at the center of this sheet grew wonderful mandalas and words that expressed their artistry.
Mandala Madness: Just some of the art work we came up with. I was so excited, I forgot to take a photo of each one!
